On the south wall is one picture only, Rest; whileopposite, reading from left to right, are four, entitled Religion,Labor, Study, Recreation. An exquisite border at the endpresents artistically an apothegm of Confucius: Giveinstruction unto those who can not procure it for themselves.The whole idea is of a quiet, rational, uplifted manner of life,and the names accompanying these scenes are those of thegreat educators of the world—Froebel, Pestalozzi, Rousseau,Comenius, Ascham, Howe, Gallaudet, Mann, Arnold, andSpencer.
