Description
English: A man and a woman sitting near the 5 million gallon dam at Farina, South Australia, newly built by the South Australian Railways. When supplemented by a smaller adjoining dam, the site became known as "Two mile dams", since they were located 1.8 miles (2.9 kilometres) north of Farina railway station. They supplied water for steam locomotives that ran on the Central Australia Railway. Another reservoir, named the Government dam, was 880 yards (800 metres) north-west of the town or 1400 yards (1300 metres) north-west of the station. It provided water for the townspeople.
