Description
English: Where ballasted track of lower stiffness meets solid slab track of higher stiffness a transition is needed to allow the two kinds of track to join smoothly. The slab track has maximum stiffness; the four-rail section has medium and transitional stiffness; while the ballasted track has least stiffness.
