English: RW Cephei is a hypergiant which has undergone an enhanced mass loss phase ending less than 100 years ago. The material released by the star causes it to appear extended in mid-infrared wavelengths. This image shows the extent of the circumstellar material seen at a wavelength of 11.9 μm. |
