Português: Um casal de araras-vermelhas-grandes (Ara chloropterus) se aproxima do ninho no paredão de arenito do Buraco das Araras. É no arenito mais grosso e friável da dolina que as araras constroem seus ninhos. O período de acasalamento, postura e incubação se inicia em agosto indo até os meses de janeiro e fevereiro. Embora na maioria dos psitacídeos (grupo que reúne também os periquitos e papagaios) não haja diferenças visíveis entre machos e fêmeas, no período reprodutivo é possível reconhecer a arara-fêmea pelas penas da cauda, que se mostram parcialmente danificadas pelo atrito com as paredes do ninho.
