Stema comunei Ighiu se compune dintr-un scut triunghiular cu marginile rotunjite, tăiat, având câmpul interior despicat.

În partea superioară, pe fond roşu, se află un strugure de aur cu două frunze verzi dispuse dreapta-stânga.

În partea de jos, în cartierul unu, pe fond azur, se află un peşte argintiu aşezat în pal, iar în cartierul doi, pe fond verde, se află un cap de berbec argintiu.

Scutul este timbrat cu o coroană murală de argint cu turnul crenelat.

Semnificaţiile elementelor însumate

Strugurele cu două frunze reprezintă bogăţia viticolă a zonei, iar peştele argintiu reprezintă lacul Iezer bogat în fond piscicol, dar şi turistic. Capul de berbec reprezintă preocuparea oamenilor din această comună pentru creşterea animalelor.

Coroana murală cu un turn crenelat semnifică faptul că localitatea Ighiu are rangul de comună.
