[edit]
Description
English: Quartz (Var.: Smoky Quartz), Microcline
Locality: Crystal Park, El Paso County, Colorado, USA (Locality at mindat.org)
A very showy and undamaged smoky quartz and microcline combination piece from Crystal Park, Colorado. The large 4.3 cm microcline crystal is aesthetically set on this piece with the surrounding translucent smokies and smaller microcline crystals. The microcline crystals have a preferential overgrowth of secondary microcline on some of the forward faces, giving a unique multitiered appearance to those crystals. It is REALLY quitre unusual! This specimen was collected by noted Colorado collector and dealer George Fisher in October of 1980. 9.3 x 8.8 x 3.5 cm
