Quarry in Quarrel Wood

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Quarry in Quarrel Wood This is one of the more accessible quarries, and one of the least overgrown, in Quarrelwood. The vertical face is of Permo-Triassic sandstone, formed some 250 million years ago when what is now Scotland was a desert in roughly the same latitude as the present Sahara Desert. Underneath it is Devonian sandstone, a hundred million or so years older, formed when the land was in the latitude of the Namib or Atacama desert.
