Bahasa Indonesia: Pulau Latondu kecil masuk kedalam wilayah Taman Nasional Takabonerate di Kab. Selayar, Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan. Taman Nasional Taka Bonerate adalah taman laut yang mempunyai kawasan atol terbesar ketiga di dunia setelah Kwajifein di Kepulauan Marshall dan Suvadiva di Kepulauan Maladewa. Luas total dari atol ini 220.000 hektare dengan sebaran terumbu karang mencapai 500 km². Kawasan ini terletak di Kecamatan Takabonerate, Kabupaten Kepulauan Selayar, Sulawesi Selatan, Indonesia. Sejak Tahun 2005 Taman Nasional Taka Bonerate telah di calonkan ke UNESCO untuk menjadi Situs Warisan Dunia.
Ada sebanyak lima belas buah pulau di Taman Nasional Taka Bonerate[1] sehingga sangat bagus untuk kegiatan menyelam, snorkeling, dan wisata bahari lainnya. Topografi kawasan sangat unik dan menarik, di mana atol yang terdiri dari gugusan pulau-pulau gosong karang dan rataan terumbu yang luas dan tenggelam, membentuk pulau-pulau dengan jumlah yang cukup banyak. Di antara pulau-pulau gosong karang, terdapat selat-selat sempit yang dalam dan terjal. Sedangkan pada bagian permukaan rataan terumbu, banyak terdapat kolam kecil yang dalam dan dikelilingi oleh terumbu karang. Pada saat air surut terendah, terlihat dengan jelas daratan kering dan diselingi genangan air yang membentuk kolam-kolam kecil. |
