Summary
[edit]DescriptionPugilina tupiniquim Abbate & Simone, 2015 - Conchologia Iconica (1843).jpg |
English: The seashell of Pugilina tupiniquim Abbate & Simone, 2015[1].
According to Lovell Augustus Reeve these species (species 3, in the plate) was named Pyrula morio and occurs in Trinidad, West Indies (on mud bank) - information from locality and habitat: J. Cuming. Pyrula morio was placed in the genus Pugilina (as Pugilina morio). The species Pugilina morio (Linnaeus, 1758)[2] had, throughout the twentieth century and before, the quotation of its geographical distribution on the western and eastern coasts of the Atlantic Ocean (tropical America and Africa). In the beginning of the 21st century, studies of the article "Review of Pugilina from the Atlantic, with Description of a New Species from Brazil (Neogastropoda, Melongenidae)", by Daniel Abbate, Luiz Simone and Ricardo L. Luiz (from the periodic African Invertebrates 56 (3): 559-577 - 2015) [3], successfully put the species in a new taxon, due to the animal's and habitat characteristics, now named Pugilina tupiniquim Abbate & Simone, 2015. |
