Summary
[edit]DescriptionPuczi Béla plaque (budapest-06 Nyugati tér).jpg |
English: Commemorative plaque to Mr. Béla Puczi (1948–2009) a Transylvanian Roma refugee who, together with his companions, defended Hungarian protesters threatened with lynching by the hostile mob during the interethnic clashes of Târgu Mureș in March 1990. It was he who cried for enthusiasm: "Don't be afraid, Hungarians, because the Gypsies are here !" The relief made by Mr. András Kállai was affixed to the wall of the Budapest-Nyugati Railway Terminal and unveiled on December 10, 2017 because the Roma man lived in the last stage of his life on Nyugati Square as a homeless man. (Budapest, District VI, Nyugati Square)
(place Nyugati, Budapest 6e arr.)
Magyar: Puczi Béla (1948–2009) roma származású erdélyi menekült emléktáblája, aki az 1990. márciusi marosvásárhelyi események során társaival védte a magyar tüntetőket a lincselni készülőktől. A Kállai András szobrászművész által készített domborműves emléktábla felavatására 2017. december 10-én került sor a Nyugati pályaudvar oldalán, mivel a roma férfi élete utolsó szakaszában a Nyugati téren élt hajléktalanként.
