James Young. Thornhill, Galt, August isth, 1902. Preface to the Second Edition The issue of this edition of my work is the resultof continued soHcitations from readers from all partsof the Dominion. The first edition having run outof print several years ago, I thought it advisable tore-issue this present volume and also to add anothervolume, giving a succinct account of the stirringevents which followed the confederation of BritishNorth America into the Dominion of Canada. Itmust be remembered by the reader that this firstvolume was written in 1902, and references madein it as to dates must be correlated with the year1902 and not 1912.
