Description
Deutsch: Die Lorbeerkirsche (Prunus laurocerasus, syn.: Laurocerasus officinalis) ist eine Pflanzenart aus der Familie der Rosengewächse (Rosaceae). Sie stammt ursprünglich aus Kleinasien.

Lorbeerkirsch-Sorten werden als weitgehend frostharte Ziersträucher in Parks und Gärten verwendet.

Frische, reife Früchte schmecken süß mit bitterem Nachgeschmack. In der Türkei wird die Lorbeerkirsche wegen der Früchte kultiviert. Diese werden dort als Trockenfrüchte verzehrt. Das Fruchtfleisch kann zu Marmelade oder Gelee verwertet werden. Beim Kochen werden die Blausäureverbindungen zerstört.
