Understanding the chart
[edit]"Prosperity Matrix" scatterplot chart showing real wages per hour and the employment rate both near record levels in 2023 during the Biden administration. Each dot represents one month between January 1964 and May 2023, measured for those two variables. Real means adjusted for inflation. The hourly wages are for production & non-supervisory employees. Employment rate equals 100% - Unemployment rate %. The upper right corner indicates historically high measures for both variables. Selected months are highlighted. February 2019 is regarded by economists as the last pre-pandemic month.[1]
