Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Within the framework of "Holy Week", in the city of Oaxaca, during the "Good Friday" the death of Jesus is remembered. The central streets of the city are packed with people to be participants in the "Procession of Silence", a respectful silent march with religious and mystical air. Some women, during the procession, demonstrate their mourning dressed in black and shawls covering their heads. The woman holds a refractory that contains copal resin, which when placing a coal on fire, causes smoke and gives off a particular smell. The use of copal resin is for ritual use to cleanse and purify.
