Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Probable species Dictyophorus spumans, in the family of stinking grasshoppers, Pyrgomorphidae. The young specimens have yellow on black and form large broods to discourage predators. However, they are nervous creatures and scatter if alarmed, hence this isolated specimen in this photo. They are renowned for accumulating poisons from the plants they eat, particularly Asclepiadaceae, however, these were eating an unrelated succulent.
