English: "The present portrait has a severe atmosphere and may have been executed on occasion of the death of Eleonara´s uncle Ferdinando I de´ Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany in 1609. The silver chain with the two rings may refer to her father and uncle and the ermine trimmed coat may represent her connection to the ruling House of Medici." [1]
