Description
English: Print "Negro House on Gravois Road" by Gustav Baumgarten. Baumgarten was a 19th century physician who emigrated from Germany with his father and settled in St. Louis. Among his many medical talents, and his civic contributions to St. Louis, Baumgarten was also freehand illustrator specializing in ink on paper sketches of people, buildings, and outdoor scenes of St. Louis.
