Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Pratapeshwar temple is one of the architectural wonders of West Bengal, India. This was built in 1849 AD by Maharani Shiyari Kumari. This temple was named after her husband Maharaja Pratap Chandra of Burdwan. This Shiva temple contains a Shiva idol built by black stone. The temple has innumerable figures on the façade including a picture of a woman in English gown, playing a violin, which clearly shows the influence of British rule on the local artisans.
