Post medieval pipe tamper
Description
English: Fragment of copper alloy pipe tamper, consisting of the tamping end and part of the stem only. It measures an incomplete 26.9mm in length and weighs 4.5g. The tamping end is roughly circular and 10-11mm in diameter. Directly above, the stem is 4.5mm in diameter in section and above this a double moulding on the stem gives 7.5mm diameter narrowing to 4.8mm, before a rib 5.8mm diameter. The stem beyond this is more oval in section, c.3x4mm. 17th century in date.
