Title
Post Medieval Decorated Shoe Buckle
Description
English: This is a copper alloy round cornered buckle frame from mid to late 18th century. It has a laureate decoration running around the frame with a rose at the bar terminals and in each corner. The laureate decoration is terminated at the each end with a pellet within an oval. The central bar has corroded away and was most likely made from a ferrous material. Although the buckle is now distorted from its original shape, it still has some curvature indicative of it being a shoe buckle, based on style and size.
