Description |
English: Incomplete and corroded cast copper alloy trapezoidal shoe or knee buckle with bevelled inside edges and a drilled frame for a separate spindle, holding a cast copper alloy chape, now broken, and a cast copper alloy tapering pin. The frame has a notch for the pin on the outer edge of each loop and moulded scrolls and bifid protrusions around the spindle holes.
Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar example on page 99, No.617, which is dated to c.1660-1720. |
