Title
Post-medieval : Dress fitting
Description
English: Treasure case: 2007 T182

Silver dress fitting, cast as one element. Round and with radiating petals in the form or a Tudor rose with projecting knops; traces of gilding on the front. On the back remains of a single hook, indicating that this may have been a cap hook in which the hook doubled back on itself.

For a comparable cap hook, with recurving hook still in situ, but with scene of the Crucifixion, see Treasure Annual Report 2003, fig. 240 from Raydon, Suffolk.

16th Century.

As such, due to its age and precious metal content, this object qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
