Description |
English: Possible Roman cast copper-alloy openwork buckle plate. This is a rectangular folded buckle plate which is broken along the hinge, but part of the pin hole has survived. Beyond the hinge and pin hole is a raised transverse line, and beyond this is an open-work fleur-de-lis design. There are no rivet holes and the reverse of the plate is plain. No original surface has survived and the existing surface shows a light green patina. The break edges are worn. It measures 30.42mm long, 24.46mm wide, is 2.66mm thick and weighs 7.61g. Similar buckle plates can be found on this database, including DRKSF9EFED0 and SFF8E0C7. |
