Title
Possible Roman Colchester Brooch (Side and side view)
Description
English: The object is a fragment of a copper alloy brooch. What remains is the lower bow with the catchplate. The bow is very narrow in plan and is sub-oval in cross-section. It is 35.3mm long and 1.8mm wide, and tapers to a blunt point with no foot or decoration. The catchplate is sub-triangular with a central sub-triangular perforation. The side edge of the plate is folded over to form a pin rest. The object is a dark matt green grey colour and is in fair condition.

The fragment is probably part of a Colchester-Two piece brooch. However, without more of the object its type is uncertain. The fragment probably dates to the first century AD.
