Title |
Possible Post Medieval bodkin |
||
Description |
English: Cast copper alloy square sectioned item tapering to a point at one end, now slightly bent. The other end has an old break across a transverse eye. It is probably a heavy duty needle: sail needles and those used on leather are sometimes square in section. It could also be a bodkin used to sew laces through pre-exising holes. It is 77.8mm long and 4.1mm square at the break; it weighs 6.72 grams. The date is uncertain although it is likely to be Post Medieval (c.1500-1800 AD). |
