Description
English: Post-Medieval silver-gilt posy ring. D-shaped in section with an inscription of KEEPE ME IN MINDE on the inside of the hoop. The exterior of the hoop is undecorated but the ring is gilded on both the exterior and interior surface.

The use of capital letters suggests a 16th or 17th Century date. Similar finger-rings have been found and reported under the Treasure Act 1996, for example 2008 T599 from Stow, Lincolnshire and 2004 T240 from Albrighton, Staffordshire (Treasure Annual Report 2004, fig 207). According to J. Evans, English Posies and Posy Rings, Oxford 1931, p. 65, the inscription is recorded in the 1674 edition of Loves garland, or posies for rings, etc (it was not included in the first edition of 1624).
