  • Postcard sent by newspaper correspondent Edmund Noble to his daughter, Beatrice. Text reads: Aug. 8, 1905. My dear Beatrice. There is a Chinese servant here from Pekin[g]. We have about 20 Russians and 15 Japanese in the hotel. All dine in the large banqueting hall. No Russians shake hands with M. de Witte before taking their places at table. Possibly the Japanese do the same with Baron Komura, but I haven't seen them come in. With best wishes, Papa.
