Statuette en plâtre patiné, sur une base rectangulaire.

Marques, inscriptions, poinçons: Signature de l'exécutant - Sur la face postérieure de la base, gravé dans le plâtre : "Dantan Je 1832".

Inscription concernant le modèle - Sur le côté dextre de la base, à l'encre : "Martin célèbre Basse-taille / du Théâtre de l'Opéra Comique". Ancien numéro d'inventaire - Marquage ancien erroné sur le côté senestre de la base à l'encre bleue sur une couche de vernis : "S.1066".

Ce baryton, dont la tessiture couvrait près de trois octaves, a donné son nom à un genre de voix propre au répertoire français : le baryton-martin, baryton aigu proche du ténor.
