English: Portessie railway station (site), Moray Opened in 1884 by the Highland Railway as the terminus of its line from Keith Junction, and then expanded in 1886 by the Great North of Scotland Railway on its line from Tillynaught to Elgin, this station closed in 1968 (the branch from Keith had closed to passengers as far back as 1917) and was largely demolished. View east towards Findochty and Tillynaught from the former track-bed. Part of the platform still survived when this image was taken. |
