Português: Portal alegórico da Quinta da Ribeira. Alvenaria mista com cantaria aparente, 2000 (c.) e seguintes. Quinta que pertenceu a Romano de Santa Clara Gomes (Funchal, Monte, 12 Ago. 1869; idem, Quinta da Ribeira, 14 Abr. 1949) e depois aos seus herdeiros da firma Luís Gomes da Conceição, Filhos, Lda.. Filho de Luís Gomes da Conceição e de Maria de Freitas, era licenciado em Direito pela Universidade de Coimbra e fixou-se no Funchal como conservador do Registo Predial, tendo integrado as primeiras estruturas republicanas após o 5 de outubro e já tendo representado a Madeira no parlamento de 1895 a 1897. Assumiu depois a gerência da importante firma Luís Gomes da Conceição, Filhos, Lda., assim como a administração dos bens das casas Torre Bela e Ornelas e Vasconcelos. Liderou depois uma grande parte das acções e dos movimentos católicos insulares. |
