Description
English: Detail, portal and stairs of the building at Rua Carlos Gomes no. 12, Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The door, stairs, and some interior elements date to the 17th century. The portal is in the style and Bahian sandstone of the nearby Espaço Caixa Cultural Salvador, formerly the House of Prayer of the Jesuits. The heritage site is listed as: Casa à Avenida Sete de Setembro, 59 (elementos decorativos). "The portal and stairs were relocated to the present-day structure at Rua Carlos Gomes, 12. They originally belonged to House no. 59 on Avenida Sete de Setembro. With its demolition, they were moved to Rua Carlos Gomes no. 12 and reassembled into a new building with a neo-colonial character.
