Festival Hall was con-sidered to be an acousticmasterpiece. When thegreat organ was removedto San Franciscos new artcenter the same dummy-engine that helped buildthe structure helped to de-stroy it. The Tower ofJewels adjoining it suf-fered a less severe butmore inglorious death atthe hands of the destroy-ers. After the scintilla-ting jewels hadbeenplucked from their set-ting and sold to admirers,a stick of dynamite wastouched off and the towerwent the way of itsnumerous predecessors The Court of the Universewas perhaps the mostauspicious exhibition oftemporary art at the ex-position. World famedartists worked monthsplanning it. Day laborersdestroyed it in a fewhours.
