Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Soviet Navy Rear Admiral Boris Dmitrievich Popov, commander of the 5th Independent Brigade of Soviet Navy Ships at Cold Bay, Territory of Alaska, speaks aboard an unidentified Admirable-class minesweeper at Cold Bay during the ceremony transferring the ship from the United States Navy to the Soviet Navy in the secret Project Hula training-and-transfer program.
Date The photo's caption (Russell, p. 21) states it was taken on 20 May 1945, but (per a table providing the dates of all transfers in Russell, p. 39) no ship transfers took place on that day. Admirable-class minesweepers were transferred on 21 and 22 May 1945, so one of those dates is the likely date of the photo.
