Description
English: The former Central School, 101 East Pike Street at Woodward Avenue, Pontiac, Michigan, December 2020. Built in 1893 in a Richardsonian Romanesque style (note the prominent Syrian arches crowning the front and side entrances as well as featuring in the belfry atop the central tower), the school was built as a replacement for the earlier Union School on the same site and housed about 320 students in eight classrooms. The building remained in use for its original purpose until 1982 and was later used as an adult education center and job placement program, but has since been abandoned.
