Description

The Ponte Vecchio ("Old Bridge") is a Medieval stone closed-spandrel segmental arch bridge over the Arno River, in Florence, Italy, noted for still having shops built along it, as was once common. Butchers initially occupied the shops; the present tenants are jewelers, art dealers and souvenir sellers. The Ponte Vecchio's two neighbouring bridges are the Ponte Santa Trinita and the Ponte alle Grazie. The bridge first appears in a document of 996. It was rebuilt in 1345. - Il Ponte Vecchio è un ponte ad arco ribassato sul fiume Arno, a Firenze, Italia, noto per i negozi costruiti lungo esso, come era una volta comune. Macellai hanno inizialmente occupato i negozi; gli attuali inquilini sono gioiellieri, galleristi e venditori di souvenir. Due ponti vicini al Ponte Vecchio sono il Ponte Santa Trinita e Ponte alle Grazie.

Il ponte appare per la prima in un documento del 996. E' stato ricostruito nel 1345.
