Notes on identification

- Pink spore powder, smooth spores 8×4.5µ
- Cap whitish with brown scales in centre, later fawn
- Gill edges mostly same colour as faces
- Distinctive 3-spined thick-walled pleurocystidia, 50×13µ
- Growing on wood débris
- Pleasant smell, like hay, a bit fruity
Some books distinguish P. curtisii, which is similar, but that species is not a recommended name of Index Fungorum, so I ignore it.
