Description
English: Pillage of Mechelen by the army of Fernando Álvarez de Toledo, commanded by his son Don Frederik (Fadrique Álvarez de Toledo), October 1, 1572. Goods are collected at the market and taken away by the (Spanish) soldiers. In the center of the foreground stands a crying. naked mother with children. With caption of 10 lines in German. Numbered: 7. Taped to the bottom of the print is a strip of paper with the number 7 and a caption of 3 lines in French.
Nederlands: Plundering van Mechelen door het leger van Fernando Álvarez de Toledo, onder bevel van zijn zoon Don Frederik (Fadrique Álvarez de Toledo), 1 oktober 1572. Goederen worden op de markt verzameld en door de (Spaanse) soldaten afgevoerd. In het midden op de voorgrond staat een huilende. naakte moeder met kinderen. Met onderschrift van 10 regels in het Duits. Genummerd: 7. Vastgeplakt aan de onderzijde van de prent een strook papier met het nummer 7 en een onderschrift van 3 regels in het Frans.
