Description
Deutsch: Freilichtmuseum Roscheider Hof: "Geneva hand fluter", Oberes Teil eines zweiteiliges Bügeleisen zum Bügeln von Plisseefalten. Der untere Teil ist nicht vorhanden. In zeitgenössischen Nachschlagewerken wird Charles A. Sterling aus New York, NY, der am 21. August 1866 das US-Patent Nr. 57.403 für seine "improvement in fluting-machines" erhielt, als Erfinder des "Geneva Hand Fluter" genannt. In den in den 1870er Jahren veröffentlichten Illinois-Historien wird jedoch Walter D. Turner (ein Mitarbeiter oder Partner von Howell) als Erfinder genannt.
English: Open air museum Roscheider Hof: "Geneva hand fluter", Upper part of a two-piece iron for ironing pleats. The lower part is not present. In contemporary reference works, Charles A. Sterling of New York, NY, who received US Patent No. 57,403 on 21 August 1866 for his "improvement in fluting-machines", is named as the inventor of the "Geneva Hand Fluter". However, in the Illinois Histories published in the 1870s, Walter D. Turner (an employee or partner of Howell) is named as the inventor.
