Description
English: Bow opening and closing pliers steel and brass tool. Three pincers, two have notches on their opposing sides; one has a curved brass plate with graduated grooves in surface. Flexible steel rod in between handles acting as a spring. Marked on handles "L. HUGONIOT-TISSOT" and "MODÈLE DEPOSE". before the advent of of wrist watches, the pocket watch usually had a chain attached to a bow or ring on the watch case. If a bow became worn or damaged, a tool such as these pliers simplified its replacement. The old bow was stretched open and removed with the noticed part of the pliers, and the new bow was closed inwards to fit into the holes in the pendant tube of the case by squeezing it against the brass part of the pliers.
