Playing fields at Lady Hawkinsâ High School

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Playing fields at Lady Hawkins’ High School View east across the frosty playing fields. The school buildings are on the left and above is the spire of St Mary's Church in the large trees at the top of the hill.

Sir Francis Drake's cousin Admiral Sir John Hawkins married the daughter of Charles Vaughan of nearby Hergest Court. In her will, Lady Hawkins left £800 to the town to establish the school, which is unique in having special permission from the Royal Navy to fly the Red Ensign on its founders day. http://www.lhs.hereford.sch.uk/
