English: Plaque on Broomhill Bridge This brass plaque on the stone pillar at the south east end of Broomhill Bridge states,
Broomhill Bridge. This bridge was erected by the third or Badenoch District Committee of the Inverness-shire County Council The last nail was driven home and The bridge opened for public traffic by The Right Honourable, The Countess Dowager of Seafield, On November 27th 1894. Chairman of District Committee, Sir George Macpherson Grant, Bart. of Ballindalloch. Clerk & Treasurer, John Grant, Grantown. Contractor, Charles Mackay, Inverness Engineer, Alex. Mackenzie,C.E. The small Formica plaque below it states, This listed structure was partially reconstructed in 1987 with the original appearance maintained. The work was designed, supervised and funded by:- Dept. of Roads and Transport Highland Regional Council Constructed by:- I.R.Phillips (Contr.)" |
