Français : Plaque de la maison Joseph-Légaré, 2, rue Sainte-Angèle, Québec
« Le peintre Joseph Légaré (1795-1855) vécut dans cette maison, entre 1851 et 1855; il y exposa ses toiles de même que sa collection d'oeuvres européennes. Considéré comme le premier peintre paysagiste d'origine canadienne française, il peignit également de nombreux sujets religieux et historiques. Il occupe une place privilégiée dans l'histoire de l'art de ce pays. En 1833, notamment, la première galerie d'art du Canada vit le jour sous son initiative; elle était installée dans une autre maison de cette rue. Ses activités sociales et politiques furent également nombreuses. De 1833 à 1836, il siégea au Conseil municipal de Québec à titre de représentant du quartier du Palais. Il fut de plus très actif lors des événements de 1837-1838. » – patrimoine-culturel.gouv.qc.ca
