English: WALLS. THIRD WALLED ENCLOSURE
XIV-XV Century The third walled enclosure corresponds to the expansion of the city to the south. Due to the flatness of the Ribera del Duero, the walls were built at a great height, although with ashlar and ashlar of lower quality than the one existing in the other enclosures. The masonry of the sections of wall found belong to quarries near the city. Its lack of quality was compensated with a great constructive power since the thickness of the walls is close to three meters. This extension became known as El Burgo, since it was part of a large suburb of the city with a rich trade and commercial activity. Thus, the area known as Puebla del Valle that integrated the Barrios Bajos where, according to tradition and history, the Islamic population of the city was concentrated.Español: MURALLAS. TERCER RECINTO AMURALLADO
