...Si les diocèses méridionaux de la Champagne avaient subi l'influence des arts bourguignons, l'un de ceux du nord avait pris certaines dispositions aux édifices religieux des bords du Rhin. Au commencement du XIIIe siècle, on reconstruisit la cathédrale de Châlons-sur-Marne, dont le sanctuaire (33) était dépourvu de bas-côtés, et dont les transsepts allongés étaient accompagnés, à l'est, de deux chapelles carrées; de deux petits sacraires et de tours, restes d'un édificeœ roman...
