Español: Pila de auga, feita de gneis de la formación Ollo de Sapo. Esta es una roca metamórfica de origen magmática (es dicir, un ortogneis). En el caso de la imagen, se formó a partir de materiales ácidos expulsados por un conjunto de volcanes submarinos (de hace 475 millones de años) que se extendieron desde el norte de Galicia hasta la Sierra de Guadarrama. El nombre era conocido por los habitantes de la zona, y fue citado por Hernández Sampelayo en 1922. Isidro Parga Pondal indicó en 1964 que el nombre era debido a los porfiroclastos (cristales) azulados de cuarzo comunes en los porfiroides de bajo grado (una de las facies de la formación); también incluye grandes porfiroblastos de feldespato, que debido a su tamaño, a veces sobresalen de la matriz debido a la erosión de esta.

No caso da imaxe, formouse a partir de materiais ácidos expulsados por un conxunto de volcáns submariños (de hai 475 millóns de anos) que se extenderon desde o norte de Galicia ata a Serra de Guadarrama. O nome era coñecido polos habitantes da zona, e foi citado por Hernández Sampelayo en 1922. Isidro Parga Pondal indicou en 1964 que o nome era debido aos porfiroclastos (cristais) azulados de cuarzo comúns nos porfiroides de baixo grao (unha das facies da formación); tamén inclúe grandes porfiroblastos de feldespato, que debido ao seu tamaño, ás veces sobresaen da matriz debido á erosión de esta.
