Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_71106_DSC08196.JPG Notes: מבנה בית הסוהר הוקם בשנות ה-60 של המאה ה-19 כחלק ממתחם מגרש הרוסים מחוץ לירושלים העתיקה. המתחם נבנה כמחנה לצליינים וכלל כמה מבני אכסניה בית חולים וכנסייה מרכזית. המבנה בו שכן בית הסוהר בתקופת המנדט שימש עד מלחמת העולם הראשונה כאכסניה לנשים על שם מריה פיודרובנה אמו של הצאר ניקולאי השני. האכסניה נבנתה במתכונת של מבנה מלבני הסוגר על שתי חצרות פנימיות. קירות המבנה היו כה עבים עד כי קרירות תמידית שכנה בחדרים.ויקיפדיה
