Description

La foto ritrae la pietra di confine posta tra Morsano di Strada e Gonars nel 1753. La pietra porta la seguente scritta:

FINES AVSTRIAE INTERIORIS ET VENETI FORI JVLII POST PACEM VORMATIENSEM NVNQVAM CONSTITVTI REGNANTIBVS MARIA THERESIA R.I.S.A.H.B.R.A. A. ET FRANCISCO LAVREDANO VENETIARUM DVCE FERDINANDO PHILIPPO CO. DE HARRSCH IOANNE DONATO ARBITRIS FINIVM RECVDORVM COMPOSITI MDCCLIII

Ovvero: "Confine dell'Austria Interiore e del Friuli Veneto, dopo la pace di Worms mai collocato, posto durante i domini di Maria Teresa Romana Imperatrice sempre augusta, Regina d'Ungheria, Boemia, Arciduchessa d'Austria e Francesco Loredan doge di Venezia, con la mediazione di Ferdinand Philipp von Harrsch (conte di Harrsh) e Giovanni Donato per la definizione dei confini. 1753."

A differenza dell'attuale concetto di confine, all'epoca questi non aveva delle definizioni precise. Per questo si spiega il continuo conflitto di interessi fra i Venezia e l'Austria. Morsano e Gonars rimasero due paesi di confine per oltre duecentottant'anni tra il 1512 (formalizzato nel 1521) ed il 1797. La pietra fu rimossa nel 1808 per ordine del Dipartimento di Passariano istituito dai francesi e conservata oggi nel cortile della canonica di Gonars.
