English: "LAST AUTHENTIC CULTIVATED AGRICULTURAL LAND" of Mumbai City in 2008.This plot of "AGRICULTURAL LAND" in the heart of Mumbai city on Old Prabhadevi road adjacent to "Vaibhav Apartments" sums up the history of the evolution of Mumbai from a "FISHING VILLAGE'" To a Global Megapolis City. The "Katharine Kinny" family owned large tracts of land in Dadar-Worli area of Mumbai when it consisted of 7 islands in the 19th century. Gradually after disposing their land and the same being converted to buildings this particular agricultural land was the last plot which was donated by "Katharine Kinny" to the "Sacred Heart Parish (Worli)" since she didn't have any heirs. In 2002 0r 2003 the "Sacred Heart Parish (Worli)" sold this land to "Lokhandwalla Builders" who are one of Mumbai's leading real estate developers.
THIS PLOT OF CULTIVATED AGRICULTURAL LAND IS THE LAST REMINISCENCE OF MUMBAI'S DEVELOPMENT FROM A FISHING CUM AGRICULTURAL VILLAGE.VISIT IT BEFORE IT DISSAPPEARS INTO "PHOTOGRAPHIC MEMORIES".;- Rudolph.A.Furtado. |
