Summary
[edit]DescriptionPhotosystem evolution from phycobilisomes.jpg |
English: Light harvesting complex (LHC) in green algae and red algae, showing structural links from a Glaucophyta-like ancestor, holding chlorophylls and antenna pigments associated with each reaction centre (PSI and PSII), and the red algal version (LHCr). The phycobilisome (PBS) is lost in the green algae, but new antenna pigments insert between PSI and PSII reaction centres to form the light harvesting complexes LHCI and LHC II. Adapted from Green, 2019.
